Justice Shamlan Al Sawalehi has more than 25 years of experience in cross border financial, investment and commercial litigation and arbitration within common law, civil law and Sharia' legal systems.
He joined the DIFC Courts in 2010 as Judicial officer then become Small Claims Tribunal Judge before he was appointed as the Court of First of Instance Judge in 2013, then he was promoted as the Courts of Appel Judge in 2017, then in 2020 he was appointed as Judge in Charge of the Arbitration Division of the DIFC Courts and the chair of the Courts arbitration Group.
Prior to that, he was the founder of Shamlan Law firm where he represented UAE government and private clients on complex commercial and financial disputes in the MENA region. Before that he served as Director of Strategic Affairs at The Executive Office of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai. Prior to that, he served as Law Enforcement Manager of DIFC Regulatory Authority for 3 years. Before that he served as senior Public Prosecutor at Criminal and Civil divisions in Dubai for 5 years wherein, he was involved in investigations of high profile commercial and financial crimes and represented the Government departments on several high-value litigation cases before the Dubai Courts.
He was appointed as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator and chairman of many arbitral tribunals seated in MENA region and Europe. He has been selected as chair and member of, arbitration Courts, advisory committees, governing councils and executive committees of arbitration institutions in UAE, Saudi, Oman, Russia, Malysia, Tel-Aviv, Turkey and India.

Catherine Dixon

Prior to setting her world record, Catherine spent time in Chief Executive Officer roles at the Law Society of England and Wales, a Higher and Further Education College and at NHS Resolution. Catherine has also held Senior Executive Director and General Counsel roles at the NSPCC and BUPA and in Canada at Vancouver Coastal Health Authority.
Catherine started her professional career in private practice as a solicitor, at Eversheds Sutherland and was an Officer in the British Army. Umar Azmeh

Umar Azmeh is the Registrar of the QICDRC, comprising the QFC Civil and Commercial Court and the QFC Regulatory Tribunal. He oversees the management of cases through the QICDRC and serves as a member of the senior management team and the Judicial Advisory Board.
Umar qualified both as a barrister and a solicitor. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2009 by Middle Temple, and practised as a barrister, gaining experience in criminal and civil law, latterly conducting civil litigation on behalf of various United Kingdom government departments. He then qualified as a solicitor at an international firm in London where he gained experience of commercial law, including high value commercial litigation. Umar has acted as a government lawyer working on both criminal and civil cases, and also has experience working in the legal department of a large financial services institution. He most recently practised at a leading law firm in London where he specialised in advising and representing high net-worth individuals and corporates in regulatory investigations brought by domestic and international regulators.
Umar holds an LL.B. degree from King’s College, University of London, and an M.Sc. degree from the University of Oxford (Worcester College), where he graduated first in his year. He is currently a DPhil in Law Candidate at the University of Oxford (St Anne’s College), is a regular contributor to academic and practitioner publications, and is also a Visiting Lecturer at The City Law Schools (City, University of London).

Dr. Muna Al-Marzouqi

Associate Vice President for Academic Planning & Quality Assurance at Qatar University
Dr. Muna Al-Marzouqi earned her LL.B in Law with Order of Excellence from Qatar University. She holds an LL.M (Master’s degree) from the University of California, Berkeley in the USA, and an S.J.D (Doctorate degree) from Tulane University in the USA, specializing in maritime law. She is a faculty member at Qatar University College of Law, where she teaches maritime law and commercial law. She served as the associate dean for research and graduate studies at Qatar University College of Law in 2018 until her appointment as Associate Vice President for Academic Planning & Quality Assurance at Qatar University in 2020, a position she currently holds. Additionally, she is a licensed lawyer and arbitrator in the State of Qatar. Since 2020, she has also been appointed as a judge at Qatar International Court.

Dr. Muna Al-Marzouqi earned her LL.B in Law with Order of Excellence from Qatar University. She holds an LL.M (Master’s degree) from the University of California, Berkeley in the USA, and an S.J.D (Doctorate degree) from Tulane University in the USA, specializing in maritime law. She is a faculty member at Qatar University College of Law, where she teaches maritime law and commercial law. She served as the associate dean for research and graduate studies at Qatar University College of Law in 2018 until her appointment as Associate Vice President for Academic Planning & Quality Assurance at Qatar University in 2020, a position she currently holds. Prof. Ibrahim started his academic career in 1995 at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST&MT), Alexandria, Egypt, where he taught Commercial & Maritime Laws, International Business Law, and Arbitration Law. At his home institution, Mr. Ibrahim occupied different administrative posts, leading to that of a Dean (2013-2016). Now, he is in secondment to Qatar University.
Prof. Ibrahim is a previous intern to the ICC International Commercial Tribunal (Paris 1994), and ICSID Projects’ Assistant (World Bank, Washington 1996).And, he is a former expert with the African Union, Arab League, CMI and UNCITRAL.
Prof. Ibrahim focuses his research on International Arbitration, commercial and maritime laws, from the perspective of the Arab World.

Prof. Nader M. Ibrahim is an Egyptian academic, who works as Professor of Commercial Law, for the Law School of Qatar University, since 2016. Prof. Ibrahim read law at the Law School of Alexandria University, where he received his graduate studies (1991-1992), including his PhD in International Commercial Arbitration (1998). Professor Dr. Riad was lecturer of private international law at Cairo university Benisueif branch law school (1986 – 1988). He is currently professor and the head of the business and commercial law department at the German University in Cairo. Professor Dr. Riad was member of Egyptian council of state (1981 to 1985).

As Of Counsel, he advises on a wide range of matters related to commercial law, company law, mediation, and arbitration, with an emphasis on intellectual property including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. He has extensive experience in drafting and reviewing official legal documents for various clients, including universities, trade and business ministries, and both local and multinational companies. His expertise also includes negotiating contracts and other commercial transactions.
Dr. Mohamed has been involved in numerous arbitration cases as a "legal expert" and has served as a sole arbitrator or a member of arbitral tribunals in other cases. He is a CEDR Accredited Mediator (London) with a comprehensive understanding of mediation both as a scholar and practitioner. He was invited, along with two other professors from Qatar University, to review and comment on the Qatari Mediation Law of 2021 prior to its issuance.
